What the extension processes
NovelaBridge processes caption text, caption-resource addresses, episode and player information, and playback timing on supported Globoplay pages. It uses this information to identify, synchronize, and translate Portuguese captions into English. Original and translated captions and diagnostic state are held in page or extension memory while used.
Translation and network requests
Translation uses Chrome’s built-in on-device Translator API. This version does not send caption text to a NovelaBridge translation server. Chrome may download language packs or translation components.
Retrieving captions involves requests to Globoplay or associated resource hosts. Those services receive ordinary connection and request information. Requests can include existing site credentials where the browser permits; NovelaBridge does not ask for your Globoplay password.
Preferences stored locally
The extension saves whether English is enabled, automatic continuation, subtitle size, background colour, and background opacity using Chrome’s local extension storage. It does not persist a subtitle library or browsing-history database.
Permissions
Access to globoplay.globo.com supports caption detection and the subtitle overlay. Storage saves preferences locally. If a relevant caption resource is hosted on another HTTPS origin, NovelaBridge may offer a user-triggered permission request for that origin. It does not request access to all optional HTTPS sites at installation.
Diagnostics
The popup shows technical information and can display current caption text locally. “Copy diagnostics” omits dialogue from the current caption fields and redacts resource URLs. It does not automatically send a report. Inspect any report before sharing it.
No advertising or sale of data
Beta 0.5.1 has no advertising, third-party analytics SDK, payment integration, or NovelaBridge account system. We receive no automatic extension usage reports and do not sell extension user data.
This website and support
This website is hosted by Cloudflare. Serving and protecting it involves processing connection information such as IP address, requested URL, browser information, and request time. Cloudflare’s handling of data is described in its privacy policy.
The site has no advertising trackers, application cookies, analytics script, or signup database added by NovelaBridge. The caption examples run in your browser without submitting your input or contacting a translation service.
Email links open your email application. If you contact us, we and our email provider receive your address, message, and any attachments you choose to include. We use that information to respond, troubleshoot, and manage your beta request. We keep correspondence as needed for those purposes and any applicable recordkeeping obligations. It is not automatically added to a marketing list.
Your choices
You can stop English, change preferences, revoke optional site permissions in Chrome, or uninstall the extension. Uninstalling removes its extension-managed local preferences. Contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of support correspondence you provided. Applicable privacy rights depend on your location.
Globoplay manages your viewing account and its own data practices. Chrome manages its translation components. This policy does not replace those services’ policies.
Changes
Future accounts, billing, analytics, or server features will require updated disclosures before use. We will update this page and its effective date when our practices change.
